Kempinski Hotels has signed an agreement to manage the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence in Munich, marking a significant new partnership with the Royal Family of Bavaria. The historic property, which dates back to the 18th century, will be available for exclusive stays from 1 March 2025.

The move, in collaboration with HRH Prince Luitpold von Bayern, strengthens Kempinski’s long-standing ties with Bavaria’s royal heritage. The group’s CEO, Barbara Muckermann, described the agreement as an opportunity to enhance luxury hospitality at one of Europe’s most prestigious addresses.

“We are honoured to take over management of the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence, a property with such rich history and reputation for exceptional service,” Muckermann said. “Our aim is to preserve its legacy while introducing new dimensions of personalised service and innovative hospitality.”

    A Landmark in Luxury Accommodation

Located within the Nymphenburg Palace grounds, the Royal Residence offers an expansive 836-square-metre space across three floors. It features four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three living rooms, a dining area, kitchen, fitness room, meeting space, home cinema, and a wine cellar. Outside, a private garden with a majolica terrace provides space for up to 100 guests.

Beyond accommodation, the Royal Residence also serves as a showcase for Nymphenburg Porcelain, one of the world’s oldest porcelain manufacturers. Artworks, tableware, and decorative pieces from the manufactory adorn the property, alongside notable works by international artists such as Damien Hirst and Nick Knight.

Founded in 1747 by Maximilian III, Elector of Bavaria, the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory has produced fine ceramics for over 275 years. Each piece continues to be crafted by hand, maintaining a tradition of exquisite craftsmanship.

    Strengthening Royal Ties

Kempinski’s involvement in the Royal Residence builds on a relationship spanning generations. The group’s Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich was commissioned in 1858 by King Maximilian II, the great-great-grandfather of Prince Luitpold von Bayern.

“We are delighted to expand our collaboration with Kempinski,” said Prince Luitpold. “Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten has long been a benchmark for luxury, and with this new partnership, we are elevating our hospitality offerings to an even higher level. The Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence is an exceptional venue, steeped in cultural heritage, and designed for guests with the highest expectations.”

    An Exclusive Experience

Reservations for the Royal Residence will open from 1 March 2025, with stays starting at €25,000 (£21,500) per night. Guests will have exclusive access to the villa, along with daily breakfast, round-trip airport transfers, a 24/7 butler service, and a chauffeured limousine throughout their stay. The venue will also be available for weddings, private meetings, and events.

Kempinski’s management of the residence marks a new chapter in ultra-luxury hospitality, blending Bavarian tradition with world-class service.
