Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a leader in textile manufacturing, is reshaping the industry through artificial intelligence (AI). By implementing AI-driven defect detection, the company ensures superior fabric quality while minimising waste. This advanced real-time monitoring system improves production efficiency, optimises resource use, and significantly reduces the environmental impact of textile manufacturing.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

Enhancing Water Efficiency Through AI Technology

The textile industry consumes vast amounts of water, with dyeing and finishing processes contributing to nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system helps address this issue by detecting defects early in production, reducing the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, and cutting down on water consumption.

With water scarcity becoming an urgent global concern, industries must prioritise conservation efforts. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that droughts affect 55 million people annually, worsening water shortages across various sectors. By improving production efficiency and minimising unnecessary water use, Ekoten Tekstil actively supports global sustainability efforts.

Sustainability and Workforce Inclusivity at Ekoten Tekstil

Ekoten Tekstil’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond environmental initiatives. The company has once again earned an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, surpassing the textile industry’s global B average and the worldwide C rating. Additionally, it has maintained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, confirming its position among the most sustainable supply chain leaders.

In addition to its environmental efforts, Ekoten Tekstil prioritises workplace inclusivity, ensuring women hold key leadership and production roles. This focus on diversity aligns with the company’s broader mission of integrating technological innovation with responsible business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

Through continuous investment in AI, sustainability, and workforce inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping a more responsible and environmentally conscious future for the textile industry.
