Cyclists from across the United States are gearing up for the 43rd annual Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN), a week-long event showcasing the state’s landscapes, small towns, and cultural heritage. Scheduled to take place from 1 to 7 June 2025, the ride is themed “Journey to the Centre of Nebraska” and promises an adventure blending community spirit, exploration, and a meaningful cause.

The non-competitive cycling event invites participants to explore Nebraska’s heartland, with highlights along the route including the scenic Lake McConaughy, historic landmarks such as the Pony Express Station, and the vast Sandhills. Riders can choose from three-day, four-day, or full seven-day options, with each package offering amenities such as tent camping, baggage handling, and hot showers to ensure a comfortable experience.

Chris Wiehl, President of BRAN, expressed his enthusiasm for this year’s theme: “We who live here know Nebraska is so much more than a ‘flyover state’—it’s a hidden gem waiting to be explored. BRAN is about discovering the beauty of our landscapes, the warmth of our communities, and the unforgettable experiences that make people fall in love with Nebraska.”

Starting in Oshkosh and concluding in Fremont, the 2025 route includes stops in Sutherland, Gothenburg, Broken Bow, St. Paul, Central City, and David City. Host communities along the route are set to welcome cyclists, with the event expected to provide a boost to local economies as riders spend on food, accommodation, and other goods. For many small towns, the event serves as an opportunity to showcase their hospitality and unique attractions, fostering pride and connection.

Beyond the adventure and camaraderie, BRAN riders will make a tangible difference in the lives of Nebraska’s youth. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for students pursuing education at trade schools, colleges, and universities.

Wiehl emphasised the dual benefits of the event: “BRAN isn’t just about cycling; it’s about creating a lasting impact. Riders enjoy a memorable journey while contributing to the future of Nebraska’s students.”

Cyclists are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. The registration deadline is April, with student discounts available. The ride is open to cyclists of all skill levels, offering a unique way to experience Nebraska’s rich history, stunning landscapes, and close-knit communities.
