A new international award has been launched to recognise the world’s finest saunas, celebrating facilities that offer exceptional relaxation and wellness experiences.
Japanese sauna brand TTNE Inc. has introduced SAUNA37 2025, an initiative designed to honour 37 leading saunas across the globe. The award, which debuted on 7 March 2025, aims to highlight diverse sauna cultures while fostering global interest in the practice.
The company, founded by Dai Matsuo and Daisuke Akiyama—both passionate sauna enthusiasts—has long sought to promote a deep-rooted sauna culture in Japan. Their experiences visiting renowned saunas worldwide inspired them to create TTNE and launch SAUNA37 as a way to share and celebrate the best of sauna traditions internationally.
A growing global sauna culture
Sauna bathing has long been associated with relaxation and health benefits, with traditions deeply embedded in countries such as Finland, Japan, and Germany. In recent years, the practice has seen a resurgence in popularity, with new wellness facilities opening in various parts of the world.
TTNE hopes the SAUNA37 award will encourage more people to explore different sauna cultures and embrace their health benefits. “We believe saunas have the power to enhance people’s happiness and well-being,” said the company in a statement. “With this initiative, we want to showcase the world’s most outstanding sauna experiences and inspire a greater appreciation for the culture.”

Japan’s evolving sauna scene
In Japan, sauna culture has grown significantly in recent years, influenced by traditional hot spring (onsen) bathing and a renewed interest in wellness. TTNE has been at the forefront of this movement, promoting saunas through various initiatives, including collaborations with businesses and media projects.
By introducing SAUNA37, the company hopes to position Japan as a key player in the global sauna community while encouraging international interest in unique Japanese sauna traditions.
A future of wellness through saunas
TTNE remains committed to expanding sauna culture and inspiring a healthier lifestyle worldwide. With SAUNA37, the company aims to provide recognition for the best sauna experiences, encouraging both sauna owners and enthusiasts to continue growing the tradition.
